Breville Bambino Review

*Disclaimer: We received the Breville Bambino Plus for consideration purposes. As always, our commitment to you our valued readers, is our honest and true opinion(s).

We love coffee around here. It fuels us, yes; but is also the perfect companion to our morning routine, having company over and is our snuggle-up beverage of choice. That said, we’re not very adventurous when it comes to brewing at home. Coffee, cream, sugar - done! We have always left the fancy coffee drinks to the experts and would willingly shell out $4.00 a pop because we assumed it wasn’t something we could make at home. But things have changed, friends! We excitedly received our new Breville Babino Plus right before Christmas and haven’t stopped using it since.

As completely non-experienced espresso makers, it did take a bit of trial and error to learn how to properly use the machine. It’s a bit of an art to get everything just so. However, it’s also pretty satisfying when you do get it nailed down. Rob has become quite the expert at lattes; experimenting with all kinds of different ingredients. I’ve contributed by been a very willing taste tester!

The Breville Bambino Plus is a very impressive little machine. I say little because even though we saw pictures of it before it arrived, we were both surprised by just how compact it is. We have limited counter space and it fits perfectly. Despite being smaller, it brews with the same quality we use to spend $4.00 on to get at those fancy coffee places I mentioned. Talk about being economic!

Favourite Things About the Breville Bambino Plus Espresso Maker

  • Fancy drinks… at home! We love our standard lattes, but also enjoy London Fogs and other recipes. Over Christmas we had a lot of Eggnog Lattes and they were as delicious as they sound!

  • Taste. The taste is exactly what we have come to know and love about ordering espresso based drinks out.

  • Compact size.

  • Easy to use. There is a bit of a learning curve to figuring out how to make the perfect latte, but it’s minimal and the instructions included with the Bambino Plus are fantastic and easy to follow.

  • Quality. This sort of goes without saying for Breville, but the Bambino Plus is truly made of solid construction.

  • Versatility. We love being able to experiment. The internet is full of awesome latte and speciality drink recipes. Lately we’ve been trying a new one per week.

  • Novelty. Being able to offer guests a fancy coffee has yet to get old! We’ve yet to have anyone decline!

Would We Recommend?

If you’re an avid consumer of fancier hot beverages and would like to get into making your own, then yes - absolutely! If you’re just an occasional consumer of lattes and such, then I would say weigh the cost compared to your anticipated use. Over the course of a year, not even purchasing daily, we figured the machine would pay for itself in about 18months. I suspect most avid consumers would pay for the machine, in what they save on ordering out, in less time.
